Sortie en salles de 3 saisons
Le long métrage 3 saisons de Jim Donovan sortira officiellement en salles le 23 janvier 2009, entre autres au Cinéma Beaubien de Montréal et au Clap de Québec. Mettant en vedette Romano Orzari, Caroline Néron et Frank Schorpion, le film raconte l'histoire de cinq destins qui se croisent non seulement dans le sang et la souffrance, mais aussi dans l'espoir, l'amour et la renaissance. La bande-annonce du film sera bientôt disponible sur notre site.
3 Seasons in Theaters
Jim Donovan's feature film 3 Seasons will be officially launched in theaters on January 23rd 2009 at Cinéma Beaubien in Montreal and at the Clap in Quebec City (other theaters will follow). Starring Romano Orzari, Caroline Néron and Frank Schorpion, the film tells the story of five destinies that converge, not only in blood and suffering, but also in hope, love and rebirth. Un doublé pour Marita Marita Lorenz, projet de long métrage développé conjointement par Locomotion et la Gaumont en France, a obtenu une aide financière de Téléfilm Canada et de la SODEC au dernier dépôt en développement. Le scénario de Doug Taylor raconte la vie mouvementée de cette femme qui a été la maîtresse de Fidel Castro et enrôlée dans CIA afin de remplir des missions périlleuses qui ont marquées sa vie à jamais.
Two good news for Marita
Marita Lorenz, a feature film project developed in joint venture by Locomotion and Gaumont in France, obtained a financial support by both Téléfilm Canada and SODEC at the last Development deadline. The script by Doug Taylor tells the eventful life of this woman, Fidel Castro's mistress, enroled by the CIA to fulfill dangerous missions that marked her life forever.

La Battue primé au Festival du nouveau cinéma À l'issue de la 37ème édition du Festival du nouveau cinéma qui s'est clôturé ce dimanche 19 octobre, nous apprenions que le court métrage de Guy Édoin a remporté le Prix International Film Guide/meilleur court métrage de la section Focus. Le troisième volet du triptyque Les Affluents a déjà fait le tour du monde avec des sélections à Locarno, Namur, Toronto, Vancouver, etc. Rappelons que Les Affluents sera projeté trois soirs à l'Ex-Centris soit les 20-21 et 22 octobre. La Battue wins at Festival du nouveau cinéma
The 37th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma ends on an happy note: Guy Édoin's short film La Battue won the International Film Guide Award/Best short film from the focus section. The third volume of the trilogy Les Affluents already traveled around the world with prestigious selections at Locarno, Namur, Toronto, Vancouver, etc. Les Affluents will be screened at the Ex-Centris complex on October 20-22. 3 Saisons en Première mondiale ce soir au FNC Le long métrage 3 Saisons, que Locomotion compte désormais dans son catalogue de distribution, sera présenté ce soir devant une salle comble au Felinni (complexe Ex-Centris) dans le cadre du Festival du nouveau cinéma. Le plus récent film de Jim Donovan mettant entre autres en vedette Caroline Néron, Romano Orzari, Frank Schorpion ainsi que Carinne Leduc et Shawn Baicho, raconte l'histoire de cinq personnages confrontés à la fois à la naissance et à la mort. 3 Saisons sortira en salle en janvier, entre autres au Cinéma Beaubien de Montréal.

The feature film 3 Seasons, new adding to Locomotion's distribution catalogue, will be screened tonight in a sell-out Fellini (Ex-Centris Theater) for the Festival du nouveau cinéma. Jim Donovan's latest film stars Caroline Néron, Romano Orzari, Frank Schorpion as well as Carinne Leduc and Shawn Baicho, and tells the story of five characters confronted by birth and death. 3 Seasons will be in launched in theaters in January among others, at Cinema Beaubien in Montreal.

Les Affluents et Roastbeef à l'Ex-Centris Nous apprenions la semaine dernière la diffusion en salle de quatre courts métrages distribués par Locomotion. En effet, le triptyque Les Affluents de Guy Édoin, composé du Pont (2004), des Eaux mortes (2006) et de La Battue (2008), précédé de l'oeuvre expérimentale Roastbeef (2007) co-réalisé par Miryam Bouchard et François Bégin, seront présentés au cinéma Ex-Centris le 20 et 22 octobre à 19h et le 21 octobre à 17h30. Ayant eu un réel succès en festivals, nous sommes très fiers de cette nouvelle consécration, bravo!
Les Affluents and Rostbeef at l'Ex-Centris
We learned last week that four short films distributed by Locomotion will be presented in theater. Guy Édoin's triptych entitled Les Affluents, including Le Pont (2004), les Eaux mortes (2006) and La Battue (2008), preceded by the experimental piece Roastbeef (2007), co-directed by Miryam Bouchard and François Bégin, will be screened at Ex-Centris on October 20th and 22nd at 7:00 and at 5:30 on October 21st. Locomotion au FNC Encore une fois cette année, quelques films distribués par Locomotion seront du très couru Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal qui aura lieu du 8 au 19 octobre prochain. Au total, cinq films de Locomotion y seront présentés. En compétition officielle: le long métrage 3 saisons de Jim Donovan et les deux courts métrages Un homme de main (Martin Talbot) et La Battue (Guy Édoin). Au coeur brisé (Antoinette Karuna) et Sunday Afternoon (Kaveh Nabatian) seront quant à eux présentés dans le cadre d'une rétrospective de la SODEC pour célébrer les 10 ans de Cours écrire ton court. Les Lavigueur maintenant disponible sur DVD Le coffret collection Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire est maintenant disponible en magasin! En plus des six épisodes, on y retrouve des suppléments tels qu'une entrevue exclusive avec Yve Lavigueur, des séquences d'audition des comédiens, une section "point de vue" où divers intervenants discutent de sujets entourant la série et des événements desquels l'auteur Jacques Savoie s'est inspirés. Il est aussi possible de se procurer le CD de la bande sonore contenant les musiques de Michel Corriveau et deux chansons de Claude Dubois.
Les Lavigueur now available on DVD
The DVD set of Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire is now in stores! Outside the six episodes of the series, it contains some bonus material: an exclusive interview with Yve Lavigueur, some of the actors' casting sequences, a "point of view" sections where various subjects around the series and the events that inspired the author Jacques Savoie are discussed. It is also possible to buy the CD of the original soundtrack with Michel Corriveau's scores and two songs from Claude Dubois.

Les Lavigueur récoltent 9 Gémeaux La série Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire, produite par Locomotion, a remporté un total de 9 prix Gémeaux, dont celui couronnant la Meilleure série dramatique. Le prix pour les Meilleurs textes est revenu à Jacques Savoie alors que celui de la Meilleure réalisation a été remis à Sylvain Archambault. Du côté des interprètes, Pierre Verville et Laurence Leboeuf ont respectivement été sacrés Meilleur premier rôle masculin et féminin et Amélie Grenier a été désignée Meilleur rôle de soutien féminin. La série ayant recueilli un nombre record de nominations a également remporté le Gémeau pour les Meilleurs décors, les Meilleurs costumes et le Meilleur son.
Les Lavigueur gets 9 Gémeaux Awards
The series Les Lavigueur, la vrai histoire, produced by Locomotion, won a total of 9 Gemeaux Awards, including the prestigious Best Dramatic series. Jacques Savoie received the Gemeau for Best Screenplay as Sylvain Archambault walked away with the award for Best Direction. In the performance categories, Pierre Verville and Laurence Leboeuf each received a Best Leading Role award and Amélie Grenier, a mention for Best Supporting Role. The series who gathered the highest number of nominations ever seen was also rewarded for the excellence of its production design, its costume design and its sound.

La Lili à Gilles bientôt près de chez vous Gros automne pour le court métrage de David Uloth La Lili à Gilles! En effet, nous apprenions récemment qu'il a été sélectionné pour faire partie de la Tournée des Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois avec des projections du 22 septembre au 8 octobre dans sept villes québécoises dont La Pocatière, Alma et Matane. La Lili a aussi été sélectionnée pour participer au Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival (du 13 au 21 septembre) et au International Short Film Festival de Drama en Grèce (du 15 au 20 septembre). Le film sera également inclus dans le programme 2008 rendant hommage au festival de Clermont-Ferrand.
La Lili à Gilles: in a theater near you
It will be a busy Fall season for David Uloth's short film La Lili Gilles. We were recently informed that it will be part of the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois's Tour with screenings from September 22 to Obtober 8 in seven cities across the province. La Lili was also selected to the Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival (September 13-21) and to the International Short Film Festival in Drama, Greece (September 15-20). Finally, it will be part of the Clermont-Ferrand Film festival 2008 tribute program.

Guy Édoin's short film La Battue continues its impressing journey. After a noteworthy presence at the Locarno Film Festival, the film produced by Metafilm and distributed by Locomotion will be at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 4-13 with two sceenings on Sept. 10 and 11; at the Moncton Festival de cinémafrancophone en Acadie (September 25-October 4) and at the Vancouver International Film Festival (September 25-October 10).

Achever l'inachevable en compétition officielle au Pariscience Le documentaire Achever l'inachevable, produit et distribué par Locomotion, sera en compétition officielle au Pariscience - Festival international du film scientifique qui se tiendra à Paris du 8 au 12 octobre prochain. Organisé par l’Association Science & Télévision, Pariscience propose d’aborder les sciences par le film. Sept prix au total seront remis au cours de la soirée du Palmarès le samedi 11 octobre 2008. The documentary film Achieving the Unachievable, produced and distributed by Locomotion, was selected at the International Festival of the Scientific Film Pariscience, held in Paris on October 8-12. Organized by the Association Science et Télévision, Pariscience suggests approaching the sciences through the film. A total of seven prizes will be awarded during the evening of the Prize list on Saturday, October 11th.

La Battue à Locarno et Toronto Début de carrière impressionnant pour le court métrage de Guy Édoin, La Battue distribué par Locomotion. En effet, il fera partie de la compétition des Léopards de demain au prestigieux Festival international du film de Locarno qui se tiendra en Suisse du 6 au 16 août 2008. Troisième œuvre qui clôt la trilogie Les Affluents, La Battue sera également parmi la sélection des courts métrages du non moins prestigieux Festival international du film de Toronto au début septembre. Rappelons que Les eaux mortes, qui précède La Battue, avait remporté le Prix Jutra du meilleur court métrage en 2007.

An impressing debut for the short film La Battue by Guy Edoin, distributed by Locomotion. Indeed, it will be in the official competition for the Leopards of Tomorrow's section of the prestigious International Film Festival of Locarno that will be held in Switzerland on August 6-16, 2008. Third piece of the trilogy Les Affluents, La Battue has also been chosen in the short films selection of the Toronto International Film Festival this September. As a reminder, Les Eaux mortes, which precede La Battue, won the Jutra Award for the best short film in 2007.

Quinze nominations aux Gémeaux pour Les Lavigueur La série Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire, produite par Locomotion, s’est fortement démarquée lors du dévoilement des nominations pour le prochain Gala des Prix Gémeaux, qui aura lieu le 14 septembre prochain. La série a en effet obtenu quinze nominations, un record, dont meilleure série dramatique, meilleur réalisateur (Sylvain Archambault), meilleur texte (Jacques Savoie), meilleur acteur principal (Pierre Verville), meilleure actrice principale (Laurence Leboeuf), etc. Bravo à tous!
Fifteen nominations for the Gémeaux Awards for Les Lavigueur
The series «Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire», came out strong during the unveiling of the Gémeaux Awards nominations, for the gala which will be held on September 14th. The series received no less than a record-setting total of 15 nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Director (Sylvain Archambault), Best Script (Jacques Savoie), Best Lead Actor (Pierre Verville), Best Lead Actress (Laurence Leboeuf), etc. Congratulations to all!

Roastbeef, by Miryam Bouchard and François Bégin, won Best Experimental Short at the Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival. The film, starring Louise Lecavalier and Reynald Bouchard, shows a choreography of the dancer in the butcher counter of a supermarket.

Achever l’inachevable, remporte le Magnolia d’or - prix spécial du jury au Shanghai Television Festival Le documentaire de Jean Bergeron, Achever l’inachevable, vient de remporter le Magnolia d’or - prix spécial du jury au Shanghai Television Festival, dans la catégorie documentaire. Le jury a affirmé que le documentaire transcende la sous-catégorie dans laquelle il avait été inscrit, Histoire et Biographies, et «est un voyage fascinant dans l’imaginaire d’un artiste, explorant les frontières de la perception et la réalité.»
Le réalisateur était présent à Shanghai pour recevoir son prix.

Jean Bergeron’s documentary Achieving the Unachievable, just won the Golden Magnolia – Jury Special Award, in the documentary category of the Shanghai Television Festival. The jury found that the film transcended the subcategory to which the film had originally been submitted, History and Biographies, and is « a riveting journey into the imagination of an artist, exploring the boundaries of perception and reality.». The director was in Shanghai to receive his award.

François en série à la conquête de la France Locomotion est heureuse d’annoncer la signature, aujourd'hui, d’une entente avec les Productions 22, pour le développement d’une adaptation en France de François en série. L’option signée permettra aux Productions 22, la boîte derrière l’adaptation française de Un gars, une fille, de développer le «format» de François en série et de la représenter auprès de télédiffuseurs français. Rappelons que des options semblables ont été signées avec l’Italie, l’Espagne, l’Allemagne, l’Ukraine, la Russie et la Malaisie, tandis que la Grèce est en production. Parallèlement, aux Etats-Unis, une entente est en cours de négociation avec NBC.
Francois en série about to conquer France
Locomotion is proud to announce the signature earlier today of a deal with Productions 22, for the development of a French adaptation of Francois en série (Serial Frank).
The option will allow Productions 22, which is behind the French adaptation of Un gars, une fille, to develop Frank's «format» and to present it to French broadcasters. Similar deals had already been concluded with Italy, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Russia and Malaysia, while Greece is currently in production. Meanwhile, in the US, negociations are currently being held with NBC.

Locomotion ouvre le FIFA Le Festival international du film sur l'art de Montréal qui se déroulera du 6 au 16 mars s'ouvrira avec une soirée toute signée Loco. En plus du documentaire de Jean Bergeron, Achever l'inachevable, qui sera le film d'ouverture du festival, un court métrage distribué par Loco et mettant en vedette Louise Lecavalier, intitulé Roastbeef, fera la première partie. Notez que Achever sera ensuite présenté le 9 mars à 19h au Musée des Beaux-Arts et le 12 mars à 21h30 au cinéma ONF, tandis que Roastbeef sera présenté le 8 mars à 19h au Cinéma ONF, et que ces projections sont ouvertes au public.

Montreal's international festival of films on art, which will be held between March 6th and 16th, will open with an all-Loco evening. Jean Bergeron's documentary Achieving the Unachievable will be the main presentation of the opening night while a short film titled Roastbeef, distributed by Loco and starring Louise Lecavalier, will start the evening. Note that Achieving will also be shown on March 9th, at 7PM at the Fine Arts Museum and on March 12th, at 9:30PM at the NFB Theatre while Roastbeef can be seen on March 8th at 7PM at the NFB Theatre.

Finalement, les films suivants ont été vendus à Cinécourts, en France: Kuproquo, Noël Blank, The First Day of My Life et Troll Concerto. Bravo!

Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire: cotes d'écoute spectaculaires Les cotes d'écoute finales des premiers épisodes de la série Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire, continuent d'être fracassantes. La première émission a atteint un sommet record revu et corrigé de 2 292 000 de spectateurs. Dans la semaine du 14 au 20 janvier, le deuxième épisode de la série a attiré 2 093 000 téléspectateurs et le troisième épisode a décroché le meilleur auditoire de la semaine du 21 au 27 janvier 2008 avec 2 148 000 auditeurs. Bravo à toute l'équipe.
Spectacular ratings for Les Lavigueur
The ratings for the series Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire, continue to be excellent. The first episode's corrected ratings were 2 292 000 viewers. The second episode of the series has attracted 2 093 000 viewers during the week of January 14th to 20th. The third episode gathered 2 148 000 viewers, the best audience between January 21st to the 27th. Congratulations to the entire team.

Sciences & Avenir parle d'Achever l'inachevable
Le magasine français Science & Avenir de février 2008 consacre un article de plusieurs pages au documentaire Achever l'inachevable, de Jean Bergeron. Le magasine, qui sera en kiosque au Québec la semaine prochaine, raconte la démarche du film et de la solution mathématique trouvée par le professeur Hendrik Lenstra pour achever une oeuvre de l'artiste hollandais M.C. Achieving the Unachievable discussed in Science & Avenir
The French magazine Science & Avenir dedicates several pages of its February 2008 edition to an article about the documentary Achieving the Unachievable, by Jean Bergeron. Available from next week in Quebec's newstands, the magazine discusses the film's approach and the mathematical solution found by projessor Hendrik Lenstra to achieve a piece by Dutch artist M.C. Locomotion à Clermont-Ferrand Locomotion présente deux films au Marché du Court du Festival de Clermont-Ferrand: La Lili à Gilles, de David Uloth, et Sunday Afternoon, de Kaveh Nabatian. Julia Lauzon est présente du festival et au marché, de même que les deux cinéastes, pour faire mousser les ventes de ces superbes courts métrages à l'international.

Two short films distributed by Locomotion will be presented at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market: La Lili à Gilles, by David Uloth, and Sunday Afternoon, by Kaveh Nabatian. Julia Lauzon attends the market and the festival, together with the two filmmakers, in order to promote these two films for international sales.

Les Lavigueur, la vraie histoire, sur les ondes de Radio-Canada dès ce soir La série en six épisodes, produite par Locomotion, sera en ondes à partir de ce soir, à 21h.
Rappelons que la série, écrite par Jacques Savoie d'après le livre de Yve Lavigueur, est réalisée par Sylvain Archamblaut et produite par Marc S. Grenier. La production exécutive a été assurée par Denis Martel et la production déléguée par Valérie Allard.
Pierre Verville y incarne Jean-Guy Lavigueur, le père de cette famille déchirée suite à un gain de plusieurs millions de dollars à la loterie.

The six-episode series, produced by Locomotion, will air tonight, from 9PM. Written by Jacques Savoie,
based upon the book by Yve Lavigueur, the series is directed by Sylvain Archambault and produced by Marc S. Grenier. Denis Martel acts as executive producer while Valerie Allard is the line producer. Pierre Verville stars as Jean-Guy Lavigueur,
a father whose family is torn apart after winning a multi-million lotery gain.

La Lili à Gilles au Cinéma Ex-Centris Le plus récent court métrage de David Uloth, La Lili à Gilles, a été sélectionné
parmi la programmation de Prends ça court, qui prendra l'affiche au Cinéma Ex-Centris de Montréal du 11 au 17 janvier prochain. On y raconte l'histoire d'une fillette qui n'a pas la langue dans sa poche et qui imagine son grand-père,
de plus en plus sénil, comme un magicien. Locomotion distribue ce très beau court métrage déjà présenté au Festival des Films du Monde.
La Lili à Gilles at Cinéma Ex-Centris
David Uloth's most recent short, La Lili à Gilles, has been selected as part of Prends ça court, a program which will be screened at Montreal's Ex-Centris Cinema from January 11th to the 17th . The short tells the story of a sharp little girl who imagines that her senile grandfather is a magician. Locomotion distributes this beautiful short film, which has also been screened at Montreal's World Film Festival.
