Irène, tenancière d’un chic bordel parisien, vient de mourir. À la lecture de son testament, sa fille Marie et son fils Christophe découvrent que leur mère était en fait originaire de St-Jean-sur-le-lac, un village québécois qu’elle a fui 45 ans plus tôt pour se réfugier à Paris. Irène demande maintenant à y être enterrée, et un certain Marcel, un drôle d’hurluberlu, se chargera de construire un mausolée à sa mémoire.
